Accessibility Statement
AAEME is committed to making our website accessible to physicians and other healthcare providers of all abilities. We never assume our audience by ability and we treat accessibility as a baseline requirement, not an afterthought.
Our Commitment
The American Academy of Expert Medical Evaluators ("AAEME," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to ensuring that aaeme.com and our digital materials are accessible to physicians and other healthcare providers of all abilities, including those who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice recognition software, or keyboard-only navigation.
Our certification programs serve practicing physicians across every specialty and career stage. Physicians develop disabilities, return to practice after illness or injury, and use accessibility tools for a wide range of reasons. We design our digital materials accordingly.
Questions about accessibility? Contact us at support@aaeme.com. We respond within 5 business days.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. They define three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.
The AAEME website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to identify and address those areas, and we review the site against this standard at least annually.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA addresses a wide range of accessibility needs including visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological. We update our practices as guidelines evolve and as we discover areas for improvement.
Measures We Take
We have implemented the following accessibility features across aaeme.com:
- Semantic HTML structure with proper heading hierarchy, landmarks (
<main>,<nav>,<footer>,<blockquote>), and ARIA attributes where appropriate - Full keyboard navigation support, including a "Skip to main content" link on every page and accessible dropdown menus
- Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements, designed for high contrast against background colors
- Color contrast ratios meeting WCAG 2.1 AA minimums (4.5:1 for normal text, 3.0:1 for large text and interactive elements)
- Descriptive alt text on informative images; decorative graphics marked appropriately so assistive technology can ignore them
- Form fields with associated labels, autocomplete attributes, and clear error messaging
- Respect for the
prefers-reduced-motionsetting, which disables animations for users who request reduced motion at the operating system level - Responsive design that supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of functionality
- Page content readable and operable when zoomed or when using high-contrast mode
Known Limitations
We aim for full WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance across all AAEME materials, but the following limitations currently exist. We are actively working to address each one. If any of these limitations prevents you from completing what you came to do, contact us at support@aaeme.com and we will help.
Older PDF Documents
Some legacy PDF course materials and reference documents pre-date our current accessibility practices and may not be fully tagged for screen reader navigation. We are reviewing and remediating older PDFs on an ongoing basis. If you need an accessible version of a specific document, contact us and we will provide one as quickly as possible.
Course Videos
Closed captions and full written transcripts are not yet available on every course video. New videos are produced with captions; older videos are being captioned progressively. If you need a transcript for a specific video to complete a course, contact us and we will prioritize that material.
Third-Party Course and Exam Platforms
AAEME courses and exams are delivered through third-party platforms. The accessibility of those platforms is determined by their providers, and some features may not meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We work with our platform partners to advocate for accessibility improvements and can assist physicians who encounter difficulty completing a course or exam through these systems.
Site-Wide Rollout
Our current accessibility update is being rolled out across all pages of aaeme.com. Older pages may not yet reflect the full update. If you encounter a page that does not meet our stated standards, please report it using the contact information below.

Reporting an Accessibility Issue
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of the AAEME website. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, need content in an alternative format, or have a suggestion for improvement, please reach out. Your feedback helps us identify areas we may have missed and prioritize what to fix next.
When reporting an issue, it helps if you include:
- The page URL where you encountered the problem
- A description of the barrier or difficulty
- The browser and assistive technology you were using
- Any error messages you received

Assessment Approach
AAEME assesses the accessibility of aaeme.com through a combination of internal review against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA checklist, manual keyboard and screen reader testing, and user feedback received through the channels described above. We conduct a formal review of this statement and the site's conformance status at least once per year.
