What Is the Neuro-Psych IR Seminar?
This seminar addresses a significant gap in standard impairment rating methodology. The AMA Guides provide no framework for evaluating neuro-psych impairment from PTSD, stress, traumatic brain injury, or other trauma that affects the neuro-psych function of the brain. Originally designed to meet Nevada's statute requirement, this seminar was adapted to work outside Nevada. It addresses the significant gap in standard impairment rating methodology for these issues.
Impairment cases increasingly involve neuropsychological injury claims: stress disorders, PTSD, and related conditions that result directly from workplace events, accidents, and other trauma. Medical providers performing impairment ratings on these cases face a specific challenge: the AMA Guides, which govern impairment rating methodology in most states, do not provide a framework for evaluating these conditions.
This seminar was developed to address that gap directly. The curriculum covers the clinical basis for psychological impairment evaluation, the legal framework governing these evaluations in workers' compensation proceedings, and the methodology for producing reports that are accurate, consistent, and defensible.

Do I need to hold CIRS certification before taking this course?
No. There are no prerequisites. Any licensed medical provider may enroll. That said, we recommend completing CIRS certification first if you are new to impairment rating methodology, as that foundation will make the content easier to apply in practice.
Does this course satisfy CME or CEU requirements?
Completing this seminar earns 8 AAFP-accredited CME credits, and Nevada-licensed DCs also earn 8 CE hours. Course content and credit are both included in the $995 course fee.
